A Rainy Day, 2024, drawing on paper, acrylic, beads, 17x21x2.5 inches (each)

Letter Three: This series of works is inspired by a passage from Yu Hua's The Seventh Day: "The departure of loved ones is not a sudden storm, but a long-lasting dampness throughout life. I am forever trapped in this dampness—it is the empty kitchen at dawn, the dark window upon returning late, stirring up storms in every otherwise calm day." In this series, beyond the flat images, transparent beads extend from the artwor into our real world, intertwining two different realms, symbolizing the damp air after rain. Though the rain may stop, the lingering, damp yearning never does.
