Monologue Under the Moon, 2024, lithography, peral, cardboard, fabric and other mixe media, 16x16 inches
Letter Two: This work is inspired by a line from the Song Dynasty poet Su Shi's poem Preclude to Water Melody: "People have sorrow and joy, parting and reunion, just as the moon has dimness and brightness, waxing and waning. This has been hard to achieve since ancient times. May we live long and share the beauty of the moonlight, even miles apart." In this piece, I use a complete lunar cycle to express the changing relationships between people, akin to the phases of the moon. Above all the images and text is a single pearl, symbolizing my wish for all those who no longer travel the same path. Though we may no longer meet, we can still admire the same moon.
